Steve knows Naperville – from the small town it once was, to the thoughtfully developed and thriving city it has become. Naperville’s heritage has helped shape the values of our community and Steve firmly believes those same values will lead us into the next generation of prosperity.
Steve has firm roots in Naperville, dating back 58 years.
After graduating from Naperville Central, Steve went on to attend Northern Illinois University. While working his way through school, Steve started a small tile shop in Naperville called Great Western Tile; now known as Great Western Flooring – one of the area’s leading specialty flooring stores.
Steve and his wife Julie have seven children and three grandchildren.
After serving four years as a Naperville City Councilman, Steve ran for mayor in 2015 believing he could help guide Naperville through a transitioning economy. In 2015, he was elected mayor and since then has been instrumental in working toward a sustainable financial plan that is focused on lower debt, a strong and diverse tax base and a predictable cost structure that stabilizes the city's pension and debt payments.
